Avatar Movie Review

AvatarPoster_000Although the story has been done before, I think James Cameron did a great job with creating all the characters and the world that set the stage for “Avatar.” I’ve heard from several that the movie resembles “Fern Gully”, and although I didn’t see that at first, I see it now. The tree!! I do think that it’s inevitable for human beings to think that the most intelligent life form on another planet does not resemble humans. The na’vi “people” looked so much like humans that we can relate to them but I feel that somehow, somewhere out there, if we were to ever stumble upon another life form, they might not look so human. When the love making “mating” scene was about to occur, I thought to myself, “ooo, I wonder how they were going to approach that”? But of course, just like humans do… (ahah, I thought perhaps what they should’ve done was put their two braids together to create that ja hayloo bond… didn’t happen)

I love the movie as a whole and yes – do plan to see it again. The 3D version is definitely worth seeing again too. I thought there could’ve been more 3D elements added here and there but kind of glad they didn’t over do the 3D either. Everything looked real enough, you could tell that it was cgi but it didn’t look fake – if you know what I mean.

Not trying to stereo type or anything but the na’vi people reminded me of some native African tribe with all their chants, the beads, the dreadlocks, and body paint. This brings me back to my point above where we as human beings feel that even in a world light years away, the ‘people-like’ beings will relate to something we have hear on earth. It wasn’t distracting though, just observable.

the last airbender - avatarLove the details on the creatures, plants, etc. This movie is definitely one of those that will go on the lists of changing the way movies are made/seen/etc. in our future to come. On another note, that Sam Worthington is hot! Can’t recall any major blockbusters that he did but they all start somewhere… and what a great movie to be apart of.

I’m kind of sad that “The last air-bender” movie didn’t come out before this one because you know how they use the name “avatar” in there for aang’s character. Now everyone who doesn’t follow the series might be confused. Or maybe not, but when this movie was coming out – because I follow the series, I was confused. lol. Can’t wait for this movie either – Summer 2010.

Up

uplogo1Disney and Pixar’s movie “UP” is this grownup movie stuck inside a 3d cartoon motion picture. What I mean is that I loved it! Just from the previews, I was taken away from the talking dog; of course anyone would say that that’s because I have a little guy myself but really – they did a great job capturing the spoken mind of a dog – “squirrel!!”

Every piece of this movie from the little boy, Russell, to the old man, Mr. Fredrickson, and the dogs, especially Dough,  fit so well together. What a story! My favorite part was when they were trying to walk the house over to paradise falls and Fredrickson says to Russell, “Lets play a game of who can stay quite the longest” because kid just continues to talk forever and ever. up-doug-talking-dog1And he replys “Hey, my mom loves that game!” ahaha, little kids, they are the cutest, adnd to remember that you were once so naive is kindda funny to laugh at too. And yes, I am guilty for playing such games with my little people too.

I got a teary eyed at the end Fredrickson opened the adventure book and saw the pictures of his life. Ahaha, it did take me a second to realize his wife, Ellie, had put that book together for him after he’d found it and handed it to her while she was sick. It was really amazing how the two met and just knew. I love Ellie as a little girl, I think she kindda reminds me of myself as a little girl. Always wanting more and bigger and better things out there in the world. And her adulthood reminds me of myself too. Just settling for life.

pixar-up1Life kindda happens that way…you set yourself up for these great adventures and realize that while living you just live and your adventures are what you are doing each day. We can’t marvel at our daily activities but others who are less fortunate do.. eventually – we look back and realize what a great time, we did have.

I guess there a many (more like few) out there who wished they were as lucky as me to have found a partner, career, home.. yadiyada at 24… so as unadventurous as my life sounds to myself, it might be exciting to others. We always want what we don’t have.

What about that scene where Ellie loses the baby? That is something that most PG’ers don’t know or may not understand. Tear.

There were ups and there were downs in this movie but the overall feeling was up. I must watch it again and it is definitely a movie worth having on dvd when it comes out for the whole family!! Everyone will walk away with a smile on their face. Love the graphics (didn’t have to be in 3d but hey – it’s the new way). Love the characters. Love the storyline. Love love love!

He’s just not that into you – movie

untitled-1ahhh. loved it – will buy it on dvd. a must see!
maybe the only thing that i can honestly say that I didn’t like that there was a happy ending because it took away from the reality potrayed in the movie but yes.. its realness was great overall and the movie and concept – everything was great overall.

Teheh- There were several characters that I could relate to at different points in my life until I became the exception (you’ll get what I mean in a sec if you haven’t seen the movie)… I remeber when I was still dating and telling stories or was told the stories about a friend of a friend who went through the same thing and got the happy ending. That was so common but it never happened to me or the person I was telling it to. hehe. I still tell the stories today to…  maybe it is better to tell the harsh truth right in that person’s face like what the Justin Long character was doing… but then it’s situations like that where you can only freely open your mouth because you’re not really “interested”

I can recall several occasions with my sister where she has said that she is more comfortable with truthing out and being blunt with people she doesn’t care about but when it comes to the one that you do like – speechless.

I liked the concept of the rule and exception in the movie and how it was explained. But really – I think the meaning of that rule and exception is that – everyone is an exception in someone’s book but you won’t see it until you are because you are the rule until then…

fun love stories about singleness and dating always makes me miss and wonder how it would still be but like the jen and ben characters portray, i’m satisfied with just him because he knows me and cares about me and when it comes to what matters most – he’s there… (most of the time..) umm.. i cried when ben showed up to her parent’s house after her sister’s wedding. hehe – i went with kim and her roomate, and didn’t want to look like a sappy chickflick crying girl.. hehehe, ok – i am though. eheh.

ok. going to get back to work!
